I sure as heck wish that lake would get a break. I don't live down there so I don't know exactly what's going on down there. Seems like every time I look at the weather map, it shows green rain coloring from Brownsville to Orange. Maybe they let the water, I don't know.

Maybe otelec with Coleto Creek Cabins will chime in.

Are those cabins available to rent still? I heard they were bought out and there is no contact info on the site.

I made a mistake; his screen name is oteloc. I do not remember his name but he posts on here and owns Coleto Creek Cabins. The phone number I have is (361) 652-3789.

I was thinking about heading down there in the next couple of weeks. How is the fishing?

his name is Johhny. There are also a few cabins further down the street from his Johnny's cabins on the left hand side of the road. Those are run by Kyle. His phone number is 361-935-1193. There website is http://www.coletocabins.com/

There was a small club tournament down there this past weekend and i heard it took some small weights to win it. They keep letting water out of the lake for some reason. Its was very low the last time i was there.

I sure wish it would catch (and hold) some water. Are they letting water out?

How will they let water into Coleto reservoir? You have Perdido creek on the west side and Coleto creek on the other. Is there any flowing water in either of them? Do they simply need to raise the gates at the dam to keep water in the reservoir? That's why I asked if there was any water being released.

Simply want to know.

I think they are able to pump water in much like they do for Lake Bastrop, they have a pipe running from a pumping station on the river and it will allow them to raise the lake to what they want

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst

I am still confused. What river would they pump from? Bastrop pumps in water from the Colorado river when water is available. The Colorado river doesn't run into Bastrop though like Perdido and Coleto creek run into Coleto Reservoir.

Just asking because I don't know.

Enough! They pump water into Coleto Creek from the Guadalupe River! All small power plant lakes(cooling ponds) can pump from another water source when necessary to make up for extreme evaporation. Squaw Creek from Granbury, Welsh from Lake-O-The-Pines, Monticello from Bob Sandlin, Fairfield from the Trinity River.....plus you can save 15% in 15 minutes with Geico! EVERYBODY knows that! Those that do not know do not ask over and over...they Google it!

I fish Coleto regularly and drive over it everyday-No, as of today it has not come up at all even though I caught over 4 inches of rain at my house on Perdido creek. The ramp is extremely treacherous due to the low level and the huge sand hump directly behind the ramp. Bass are biting good- we had some decent bags weighed in recently at our last local tournament but it is not worth the hassle of loading and unloading with the condition of the ramp.
