I placed two orders with Academy last week on line. One was a reel, it arrived yesterday from GA. The other was hooks, leaders, punch bait etc. I got half the order yesterday in 2 packages...One from San Antonio and one from Lake Jackson. Suppose to get the other have today from some place in Louisiana. You would think a company the size of Academy would ship orders out of their Katy distribution center instead of out of their stores scattered all over. Has to be costing them a small fortune in Fed Ex fees shipping from so many different places.

My personal best is still swimming out there just getting bigger. One of these days I will quit feeding it.

I ordered a Lowrance fishfinder a few days before Christmas, on line at Academy. I too was surprised to find that it had shipped from my local store, but was even more surprised when I received it the day after I placed my order, (2nd day). I just figured that they (Academy) were using some kind of matrix to fill orders from the closest available store, to get orders to the customers as soon as possible. Yeah, the shipping cost have to be a little high, for them, but I imagine that there is a cost benefit to doing it the way that they are doing it, or why else would they do business that way, if it didn't benefit them one way or another?

I know that I appreaciated receiving it so soon after I had placed my order even though I was in no real big hurry to get my item.
