Can anyone recommend a 120 volt green light for dock/slip fishing?

You can make your own mercury vapor underwater light which gives a green glow to the water. Here is directions on how to do this. DIY Mercury Vapor Underwater Light I made one following (or almost following) these directions. Here is what it looks like underwater. I had it set 8' under when I took this picture. It cost me a little over $100 to make this/ I have now moved it to the front of the slip, under the deck area. The idea is to attract the bait fish to the front deck area, leaving the slip water where I fish darker. Unfortunately health problems popped up just as I moved it and I don't have it hooked back up yet. But one of these days I will know how it works from the front of the slip.

I've been thinking about making a second underwater light to use when I get back to fishing. I'm thinking about having one under the deck of my slip so the edge of the light circle ends at or around the edge of my slip. Then maybe drop a 5' or 6' tarp from the edge of the deck, creating a light area under the deck to attract bait fish and a darker zone at the slip waters for the crappie. I currently have two fish attractors at the front of the slip. Then maybe placing the second underwater light about 20' out from my slip, creating a zone of light to attract the bait fish to the water at the end of the slip. I have two fish attractors at the end of the slip now. Then maybe drop the tarp along the sides of both walkways, to do the same thing. If this works properly I would have two zones of light for the bait fish, with my slip waters being darker and hopefully be a hiding place for crappie to ambush the bait fish. Not sure if this would work but would be interesting to test.

I wish they had a 12 volt that bright. Can you imagine the size of the battery it would take to power it?

Not much. I had a halogen 120 volt I was using at the marina last summer. Dropped it once and all the bulbs broke. I switched to an LED light. I am too careless to have stuff that breaks.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

What protects the light from breaking? Apparently that glass is not that easy to break underwater. Since the light is under 8' or so of water it would be hard to hit it with anything with a lot of force. My current slip neighbor has one that has been in use for over five years. It is a commercial unit but it uses the same light bulb. He has it at the front of his slip, in the middle of his slip. So his boat shields it from people shooting jigs into his slip. And a slip behind me has one in the same location, at the front of his slip with his boat parked in front of it. I am not sure how well the light bulb will be protected if I built a second one and place it about 20' in front of the rear of my slip. That will place it into open water between my dock and the fishing barge. Which is why you need to have the light on a CFCI outlet to be safe.
