I'm going to have to make a choice between the two and I can see pros and cons. The Navionics can be updated online while the Lakemaster can not be updated. On the other hand, the feature of being able to enter lake levels and have the corrected depths displayed has a lot of merit, especially fishing the Texas lakes, most of which are low or fluctuate greatly Real world opinions?

I have both in my 898, use the Navionics 95% of the time. I like able to highlight a certain depth of water.

It ain't easy making it look easy.

I also have both with my 898 and I-pilot so I like the Lakemaster for the features, especially with the I-Pilot. However, I have seen major data errors with Lakemaster that are not there with Navionics. There may also be errors with navionics that Lakemaster doesn't have but I have seen a lot of major terrain features on Lakemaster that do not exist in reality and were not on Navioncs. Recent example, On Grapevine, LM show a big hump near the dam that goes from 49' up to 10' that does not exist. Navionics shows correct contour.

Does anyone else see these kind of errors with LM data? The features are nice, but what you really need in a map chip is correct data.

Fishin Aggie is correct. I have both as well and I like both it just depends on which lake. I like my LM for the Ipilot Link. But I have noticed many differences on Lake Whitney where Lm shows a large hump right on the main lake river channel out from McCowan Valley. If that hump existed there would have many boats been tore up. Navionics shows more humps on Whitney than LM and I have been able to confirm several of them with sonar.

Anyone know if there is an easy way to hot swap the chips? I usually find the only way to swap chips is to cycle power. That takes too long to do very often.

If you have Navionics and Lakemaster cards in a Humminbird, you just change the Chart Select in the Chart menu.

One of the advantages of having both map cards is that if the navionics has better mapping I can record a track and go back over it with my hbird I pilot link with recording tracks and get the best of both map cards

The Lakemaster ability to adjust for low Lake level is also very useful right now.

I've never understood why adjusting for lake level is not a basic feature on the Navionics. Seems like that is too obvious to be needed. I guess when they released it, all the lakes were all full all the time. That's the exception rather than the norm now.
