targeted crappie a few times before but was never able to get one. went out with family tonight and finally managed my first ever crappie. the 5 of us caught 6 keepers and around 20 undersized crappie. the largest one was 14inch and weight a pound and half.

The bite was quite slow so I cast one of my line way out just for fun and it didn't take long for the rod to bend in half and the drag went screaming. we were fishing from a pier so I had to get down on the rocks trying to land my fish. We saw the fish and as we tried to grab it since we didn't have a net, it popped my 12pound fluorocarbon leader and swam away. A quick retie and minutes later the same thing happen again and a even stronger fish was on my rod. A group of fishermen showed up just as my rod went crazy and they happened to have a net and with their help, I was able to land this beast while fishing for crappie.





The beast is about 38 inches and weights close to 30pounds if not a little more, no scale to measure exact weight but the pictures does not do the fish justice.

The fish was caught on a live minnow and it's definitely close to 30 pounds.(check out the 27# striper pic on the bass forum he was able to extend his arms and got the pic taken at a angle while i had my 14 yr bro taken a pic at a flat angel while hugging the fish because it was too heavy for me to extend my arms)

I will buy a scale for the future to better record my Pbs
