A trip to Towakoni with Big Country as a guide can only be made better by staying a night at Miss Patty's Shoe String Farm, right across the street from Holiday Marina. After dragging in from a full day of fishing with Matt I think I can safely say Frank, Keith and Roy was almost as worn out as I was. Shoe String Farm was the perfect ending to a great day of fishing. We were met by Ms. Gypsy (Patty's daughter) who assigned us our cabin. It was like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting, simply sublime! The beds were comfy, we had a kitchen, a bath with shower, 3 rooms with beds and a great front porch. Upon request Ms. Patty had fixed us cheese burgers, chips and beans and we ate that evening in the breakfast house. The next morning Ms. Gypsy served up breakfast, the biscuits and gravy were to die for. The most amazing part of staying at Shoe String Farms came about 10:00 that first evening, all of us were sitting on the front porch telling stories when Keith remarked how quite it was. And for a few moments we just sat and listened to the quietness of the night that was occasionally punctuated by dog barking and coyotes howling. We could not have wanted for another thing, the cabin was a much welcomed blast from the past, the meals were awesome, the atmosphere of the entire farm was way more than I had anticipated and Ms Patty and Gypsy were very gracious. The only downside to the trip was we were only there for one night. For me I will now have to plan all my Towakoni trips to fish with Matt around whether or not there is availability at Shoe String Farms.
The only thing missing from this picture is Frank who is behind the camera!

We stayed there back in Sept. prior to a trip with Matt,
and had the same positive experience. Would recommend it
to anyone.

Mentioned to the guys let's stand in the same position as we did in last year's photo! Keith remembered who was where. Keith recalls every moment of every trip like it was yesterday! I also suggested and we are planning to turn it into an annual tradition. That cabin reminded me so much of my Grandpa's cabin when I was coming up. You aren't going to find a place like that or a meal like that at any of the national hotel chains. It's like everything just slowed down there. Terry said it all perfectly. Just a place of total peace and relaxation.

What a great trip guys. We are all so blessed to have the friendships we have all developed fishing together. And to have some of the best fishing, with the best guides in the world right here in Texas! Don't get any better than that!

Jeff you are so right. And when you think a trip can't get any better, you find a place like Shoe String Farms and now there is a whole other dimension to a fishing trip to Towak!
