My wife just bought me a new BP 100MPH suit. I thought that I had heard that washing them makes them lose their waterproof properties...I was reading the care tag on it and it says "washing and drying may actually enhance the performance of your garment"...who'd have thunk it?

If you're getting wet at 100mph I would'nt think it needs washing. lol
To whom much is given, much is required.

That's funny! My wife told me to put it on and get in the shower to see if it "works"! Lol!

this video says it all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3GAmwwaJJMAnytime gore-tex gets wet, it's good to put it in the dryer. Not sure why but that is what the recommend. Gore says that it re-activates the water proofing chemicals. Also, never use a powder detergent. Liquid only. The powder will clog the pores in the membrane.
