How much is Dallas selling the water for? Doug, why don't you offer just a bit more $ and buy it back. I'll chip in...lol

We were checking the ramps yesterday, we keep our big fire boat in the water, but we also have a 16 foot center console that we have to use in the event that we need to get to someone that is up north where we can't get our big boat. We keep the smaller boat at the station so we trailer it to the lake.

The end of the east ramp is apprx 12 -15 feet from the water lime and there is a 5-6 foot hole at the end of it. Then about 30 feet or so behind it there is a sandbar that's around 1.5-2 feet under the water. It won't be much longer until it's unusable. I would say at the current rate of the water falling it will be out of commission in 30-45 days.

I wouldn't launch on the west ramp at all, it's shallower plus the wind usually always pounds into that shoreline.....

Just to add to our LRH troubles......

I spoke to two gents from TP&WL Inland Fisheries department yesterday down at the Chandler's ramp and they said there's still no evidence of zebra mussel infestation. Yes, there was the one adult mussel found there at the ramp but no veligers or "active" adults have been found.

They said now that Lavon is infested with veligers and adults it will just take some good rain to wash them down our direction and we will be infested.

So.... It's coming, it's just not here yet. Don't pray for rain whatever you do!

GGGGRRRREAT! bang

So there are for sure adult mussels in Lavon now? Wow I hadn't heard that.

We need rain more than we need Ray Hubbard not to have mussels

Very true..... But a catch 22 of sorts I guess.

He showed me pictures off of his phone on things they have been seeing.

The pictures from Ray Roberts were crazy.

Other than the wash out at the end of the ramp, it's less than 2' of water all around it with lots of random rocks on the bottom.

the upside is when they finally find the adult mussels in Hubbard the TPWD will no longer allow the water to be dumped out the gates...

Ding ding ding ding!!! We have a winner folks! The solution to the lake being continuously drained has been found. Grab some mussels and throw them in Hubbard asap and we might just get the lake back. I'd rather have a lake with mussels than no lake at all.

Well, its no longer a conspiracy theory. A couple of local land and business owners around Rockwall approached the city of Dallas about the condition of the lake. They were met with an eye opening response: This is just the beginning. The city plans to continue to sell unlimited amounts of water to the power plant and farmers. They estimated the lake would drop another 10 feet before they let up. Their recommendation; get your boats out and fix the infrastructure around the marinas... Good luck. They have a contract with the water authority for unlimited use until 2019.

Thomas I have first hand knowledge that this meeting happened and you are 100% correct in your assessment

How much affect is the Miller Rd bridge re-construction having on lake levels? I noticed they have had Rowlett Creek dammed up for a while now as they work on it.

This says Forney uses 14 million gallons of waste water a day reclaimed from Garland. Is this coming from the lake or the water treatment plants? According to the Garland website, the 2 water treatment centers dump into Duck Creek that feeds into the Trinity below Hubbard. Is that also then the same water feeding the wet lands? Plus the 35 MGD released from Hubbard daily.

I don't know how the math works out, but from what you just posted the wetlands use 184 MGD(91 MGD from East Fork + 93 MGD from Lake Lavon) and Forney 14 MGD. The Garland website says the Rowlett plant in 2011 treated 17.64 MGD and Duck Creek plant 19 MGD.

http://www.ci.garland.tx.us/gov/rz/utilities/wastewater/default.asp

RH release(54 cfs)- 34.9 MGD
2 Water treatment plants- 37 MGD
= 71.9 MGD total

Just trying to figure out what's going on. Bottom line, both the wet lands and Forney PP have been around since 2004. They account for some of the deficit but the current lake level is because of the drought.
