I'm restoring an old Ranger and am in the process of building the casting deck for it. My question is, what's the best way to get a tight seal on the front compartments if I'm not planning on carpeting the front deck.

Two ways:
- buy the compartments with the lip to keep the water out and build the deck to fit them. Make sure they have the tube fitting to dump the water into the boat bulge.

- build your compartments then have a aluminum trough made for each of them with a hole and tube connection to dump the water into the bottom of the boat and let the bulge pump take care of it. Risen them in place.

Thanks Donald, that first method sounds perfect.

If I am not mistaken the salt water section makes the best ones. If you by the cheap ones then a worm gets loose in one of the compartments it will eat a hole in the plastic.

Example: All the Skeeter compartments that are BLACK are not soft plastic friendly, especially the glove box. Purchase white if you can.
