What do you do when you take more than one kayak on a trip. I'm can't help but assume that my spare kayak would not be at the truck when I returned?

Having worked with TDCJ (Texas Prison System) back when I was in college, I have a general mistrust in humanity which is why I only take as many kayaks as I have paddlers. Heck, I don't even lock my cart in my truck out of concern that it may prove too tempting for someone to resist. But I'm sure that that is just me.

Why would one need a spare kayak?

I prefer paddling in the shallows. The PA isn't as enjoyable to paddle.

Just plain sucks this post even has to exist. I wish people wouldnt steal. Its the most low life thing a person can do. I would paddle and leave the other yak at home.

This post got me thinking; it would be nice to transport my yak and leave it on my truck over night. Looks like these might work, but then again, like my granddaddy use to say "locks are for the honest and the lazy" and unfortunately a lot of the criminal minded would rather work at stealing something than they would be going to someone's job. But at least it looks like these should provide enough of a deterrent to ward off all but the most dedicated of criminals. Lasso Kong Lasso SOT

I use a 30' cable thats 3/8" thick. I wrap it, tie knots and generally just make it so it will at least take a while to untangle.
