 What's a big sandbass?

Caught this one today right at 17.5 inches... I've caught a few fatter than this one that were pushing 18. Buddy said these are "huge" Idk about sandies? Are these remarkable? Or just atta boy?

Pretty positive the 1st one is a hybrid.

First one is a hybrid, and it's undersized. The lateral lines go all the way down to the tail. The second one might be a white. It's hard to tell upside down, and at that angle.
Anything over 14" is a nice white.

first one is a sandbass and so is the 2nd. Anything 15" and over is considered a good size white in my book,

Wow! A hybrid?!
I don't keep fish so size is no matter..
But these are in a pond?! It kind of connects to the Elm fork but the fish would need to traverse 10 miles of crazy ditches that only sometimes have water...
That's pretty cool! If that's a hybrid he did it right!

Seeing both as sandies also. Big or "magnum" sandies vary on the lakes. For example, 12" for White Rock, 13" for Lavon, 14" for Hubbard, 15+" for Twok, etc. IMO  Those are indeed magnums. Nice!

Dan90210: Sand bass 17 inches and larger are indeed BIG sand bass. I have fished Cedar Creek, Ray Hubbard, Livingston and Tawakoni and catch some 15 to 16.5 inches each trip. 17 and up are more much more infrequent.
