Well I am back from another one of those long Army trips and it's great to be on the water again. But when I thought I had the lakes somewhat figured out before I left, I came back to summer conditions. I've been beating up grass with plastics, and squarebills or red eye shads over top the grass and had no luck. I have old electronics so deep water is very iffy. I can find drop offs, but it's hard to find anything else below the surface aside from depth changes. Maybe revert to pitching the wood with wacky rigs? Drop shotting has yet to pay off as well due to the lack of electronics to find a spot that can produce. Any and all info is appreciated, regardless though I'll be out again next weekend to try and figure these fish out thanks all! (I tend to fish the upper end of the lake, Dana Peak and or the bridge, close to my house is why) flag

Hate to say it but deep is the only place I can get bit on Belton and Stillhouse. Thermocline was round 40 feet fish where between 25-40 foot tons of them suspended too. Even at night the bites been deep. If you can get down there during the week lake Austin is probably going to produce the best shallow bite of all the lakes round here if you can deal with pleasure boat wakes. Was there this weekend and caught a bunch up shallow (round 4 ft) some donkeys mixed in too.

Welcome back. I am by far not an expert on Still house and have only been a couple of times in last few weeks. I struggled all day the first time trying a little of everything then went to Jigging.... The 2nd trip out was a little better. 40' deep or deeper and punch through the grass if you have to. If your not up to the Jig break out the Texas rig worm and Good Luck. About the only two ways I have found to get a bite!
