I decided to hit the lake for a few hours this afternoon. I started off throwing a swim jig at some grass near a steep drop. I've had sucess at this spot in the past and I fgured it would be a great place to start. I was throwing a Lethal Weapon swim jig with the last third of a SK Rage Cut R Worm as the trailer. This was only the second or third time I used this bait as a trailer. They were killing it! I caught a fish every few casts for about fifteen minutes. Nothing too big, but they were biting it really good. The problem was that they would bite the tail off of my trailer each time. With my last worm on the jig, I lost a two pounder at the boat and my trailer was gone. No big deal right? I throw on a green pumpkin grub and get back to work......I went forty five minutes without a bite, a bump, or any sign of a fish. I thought to myself "I need to go home immediately, get online, and order twenty packs of SK Rage Cut R Worms from Tackle Warehouse!"

Then.....BOOM! Eight pounder smokes my jig! It was a toad! I then caught a couple more small ones before I had to head in.

Moral of the story......I'm not really sure. Is it bad that I think of making a TW order when I'm not catching fish????

The first word in a sentence should always be capitalized.

Grats on the 10lber! popcorn2

In all seriousness though, I feel too many people don't try to break away from what they know is working. I will always get my day going on baits I know and trust to work, get a few fish started, then try new stuff once I have shown myself the bite is on. You never know when the new thing you try will pull up the big fish you never knew were there.

The fish taught you a valuable lesson.

That said... I do still have the couple of go to baits that you won't find stocked at any of the Academy's in the metroplex ever... loco_2
