Sad story from my home lake this evening. Texas country singer Josh Ward and his partner were involved in a boat accident by pappas while fishing the weekly conroebass.com tournament. Josh's wife announced that he is doing ok, possible internal injuries and possible broken arm, but awake and coherent. His partner Andrew is ok as well. However several people on the other boat were not ok including one fatality. Keep them all in your prayers. http://montgomerycountypolicereporter.com/boat-crash-update/

Oh dang, I'm glad we didn't fish the tournament last night. That sucks. I knew there was gonna be some incidents on the lake this week but it is getting started early already. There is no way I would get on Conroe starting Thursday, especially to try to fish. Prayers for everyone involved

Yikes. Prayers sent. I'm fishing in my 'Hood early, staying away from main lake/south too.

Prayers up for all involved.
It's hard to understand why TP&W, DPS or Montgomery Co. hasn't gotten a handle on the yahoo's on Conroe. Year after year its the same old story during the warmer months with the pleasure boaters/watercraft making all but the northern most parts of the lake unsafe for everybody on the lake. For me its not even about fishing Conroe during this time of year (I gave up on fair weather fishing Conroe many years ago), but year after year the kids in their daddy's Scarabs, Eliminators, Shockwaves and every other type of speed/pleasure boat imaginable have literally taken over the lake and made it more of a hazard than anything else. Boaters with little to no experience on the water don't stand a chance on the southern end after the open end of the lake gets all churned up due to the bowl effect, never mind the people who have years of experience on the water. Its a damned shame that the powers that be have allowed the outlaws in speed boats to continue the dangerous games they play on such a publicly utilized body of water.
Rant over.

Agreed, I try not to sound like a sour old fisherman at 24, but these people get outta control and downright dangerous. Out on daddys boat. This time of year I basically stay north of stowaway or up into lake paula. My boat may be old but she's mine and I'd like her to live longer for me and not fight any ski boats. I genuinly feel sorry for the people with kids on the lake.

http://montgomerycountypolicereporter.com/boat-crash-on-lake-conroe-claims-lives/Sad thing here....it sounds like it was the fishermans fault....not the pleasure boaters. Everyone needs to slow their roll. Stay safe this weekend ya'll!

Perhaps we should hold off assigning blame until the investigation is complete.
The operator of the Skeeter is a good friend of mine. He and Josh are both very experienced and safe boaters. I wasn't there and don't know exactly what happened other than what has been reported. If I were a betting man, I'd guess the pleasure boat had no lights on, but that's only because I know how safe the Skeeter owner is.
I spoke to him by text a bit ago and they are both banged up but ok. Physically.
Prayers for all the families touched by this tragedy.

The Ranch here in the metroplex played a clip from a deputy who said the guys in the bass boat didn't see any lights on the pleasure boat & tried to avoid hitting it at the last second but couldn't avoid it.
