I was curious about this spot I had. Caught one 6 pounder off it and than hit it with a couple of different baits…..nothing. so I decided to hit it from a different angle. Went back to the crank and nailed a 6:13…a few more cast nothing….went to other back up baits and still nothing. So I tried a third angle and bam a 5:10. It seems like all those fish were right there but for some reason the angle/direction of the bait was the trigger. Opened my eyes to spots were I have only caught one and thought only one was there. Angles are everything. If I know the bass are there I will work my way all the way around them until I find the direction they want it from.

I've had better success retrieving with the current (usually means casting into the wind) Bass, particularly bigger bass, like to sit in ambush and wait for current to bring bait to them instead of chasing.

Nice fish 1007 ,what lake are you fishing? Born and raised in the tarheel state. I felt like there wasn't many a mud puddle in NC that I hadn't dropped a line in. Those are some nice bass bro.

Thanks for posting this Crank. One of those things that I think I used to do, and have since forgotten.

Good stuff.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm from Bama, but my father was stationed at Ft. Bragg for a long time. So when I was young and later during the summer months we'd do a lot of fishing up that way. Sharon Harris use to produce some crazy big stringers.

-Fishing is not always an escape from life, but often a deeper immersion into it.

Shearon Harris is a jewel. I had a love affair with that lake for about 5yrs, great little trophy lake. Years ago husband and wife team weighed in 60+ pound /5 fish bag at a local there. Great lake to fish.
