Weird this year. Had trouble finding spawners and gave up around the 1st of june as they were pretty much done by that time last yr. Only would manage a handful each outing.
Shad are still hard to find for me this yr.
crappie never managed to find a normal post spawn pattern, even ernest patty is stumped.
whites dont seem to want to school good.
it is so bad I started bass fishing, not been bad, lol.

question, anyone ever drift fished with live bream, those I can find.

I have, at Lewisville. Twin poles back toward party cove direction. I suppose you could try it anywhere. We caught hybrids and big blues.

Get your shad when it's dark. All your gonna catch is gizzards cause of the die off

Thanks for the advice. Perch are easy to find right now seem to be spawning still. Guess I should try throwing around the marina lights before day break and fall back to live perch. I have tried cut buff and perch without much luck, thought heck why not live. Lewisville is weird this year though, Maybe the die off and cold winter threw everything out of balance .........at least for me it did.

I have actually considered booking a trip. Very hard for a guy with a boat who "thinks"he knows how to fish, ha. I know this much, I will never fish a weekend day on that lake once the water temp gets swimable. Every crazy has his dads boat or a rented jet ski and heads straight for me. I am like a knuckle head magnet, takes one to find one I guess, lol.

If you catch a bunch of thread fins it would like to see a pic. I catch maybe 1 out of the half gallon to gallon of shad that I net. There was a definite die off.

Update. Went wed. About got blown off water. Drifted live bream, cut bream, cut drum near I 35 e side. 10 to 28 feet. Nada. Headed to old lake found a few shad used them drifting in old lake s of toll bridge. Nada with shad in 20 to 23 ft. Went deeper to 25 ft drigting from solo polo towards deadmans. Caught 2. 3 lber and a 14. Lost several rigs due to tree's. I hate high winds.
