I will be in Surfside for a few days next month and we plan on fishing the jetty at Surfside Jetty park.
Any advice? I don't care what I catch really.
My saltwater experience is limited to in/off shore out of Port Aransas. We were mainly on the boat but would beach it and wade a bit as well.
I have never been on a jetty. We hope to also try our luck from the beach near the hotel as well.
Thanks guys.

free line live shrimp... can't beat it. Also small topwaters like skitter pups as well as small solft plastics. On the incoming tide, fish the outside. On the outgoing tide fish the inside and look for current edges or eddies.
On the beach be prepared to move around a little and read the water for signs of fish. Try to locate as much baitfish as possible at a minimum... Lions don't stray too far from the gazelles.

The end of the jetty seems to outperform the rest of it. It is a long walk but worth it. Either travel light or bring a wagon. The locals at the end of the jetty are using live shrimp on a small hook. The jetty rocks can be slippery. You want more foot support than a flip flop. There was a lot of seaweed over Memorial weekend. I am going back the second week of June - as soon as the kids are out of school.

Go to the end of the jetty. Thats where us Vietnamese are at and theres a reason so. Live shrimp is a must. Put it under a bobber with a treble hook. Around 10ft leader. Steel wire if your planning to catch some mackerel. At this time the trout and mackerel are eating near.
Bring a wagon or some sort of push/pulling equipment. Its a bit of a long hike with all those gears. Dont step on wet rocks. Its very slippery without the right shoe.

The Surfside jetty is about a 1/2 mile from my house. I took a break yesterday and grabbed a rod and a couple of spoons. The smacks were hitting hard when you could get around the seaweed. I don't use a steel leader, just a 40# flurocarbon leader. I get bit off sometimes but I get a lot more hits.

Heading that way Friday afternoon. Gonna try TCD first due to the weed on the beach. Then SLP area (if fishable due to weed), then SS Jetty. Be there till Monday.
