Well it finally happened after 14 years, I finally broke down on the water today. We were about 7 minutes into our trip and on plane at Ray Hubbard when the check engine alarm came on along with the light. I quickly came off of pad and shut the motor down. I then restarted it, and the check engine light came back on. So we decided to idle back to the marina. About two minutes later, the engine just shut off, and will no longer run. It will turn over, but immediately shuts off. Luckily, I was able to wave someone down in a large, large power boat, and he was kind enough to tow me back to the marina and I will always be grateful to that family. Here is what I have:

200HP Evinrude Ficht (model year 2000)

Water stream was good after the incident, and bulb was full. There were no indications that the motor was hot (Hot light was not on)

Any ideas as to what this could be?

Check engine light is an indicator of fuel flow. I would start by checking the fuel filters and water separator if you have one. Good luck.
