Going on a family vacation to Port A. I have never been there. But i plan on Surf Fishing. I only have 1 surf rod 10ft and plan to use Mullet and a circle hook with a steel leader and a spider weight. probably drop my line in the second gut. Maybe the third depending on how deep it gets. I have a piece of pvc to sink in the sand to hold my rod. Any tips or particular areas to fish would be great! Here is a cool Video.

Horton I have vacationed in Port A every summer for 20 years. Its always has been family vacation so I haven't been 100% to the wall extreme fishing mostly about 70% or as much as I'm aloud to. Anyways, through the help of the exact same post 2 years ago I was introduced to free lining shrimp in the surf. I caught trout, mackerel, whiting, Jack Creval, and lady fish. I really enjoyed catching a variety of more sport fish free lining then the traditional cut bait off the bottom and having to deal with hard heads. It does get exhausting battling the waves, but to me it was worth it. I used a steel leader, 12lb line and a small treble hook, cast out over a gut and reel in slowly to keep the bait off the bottom and away from hard heads.

I have been surf fishing PA beaches the past 10 years. Go down to 29 - 32. Use double hook rig, shrimp: dead, frozen, alive does not matter. Go as far out as you can. Use spider sinker and use saltwater shrimp flavored fish bites pink seem the best. cast up wind at a 45 degree angle. Let the spider grab the bottom before you start walking back to shore. Be sure to use c hooks. I will be in Rock Port this summer to fish Capono Bay, but will be surf fishing in PA as well. I surf fish year round. You just never know what that hook might get. Love the pompeno and I like whiting. especialy when you get two at a time.
good luck
