I recently noticed rust spots on the stainless steel railings of my bay boat. Can anyone suggest the best method for removing them? And preventing them in the future?

polish with a cotton wheel and some black rouge.

it may require some very light sanding first.

What is causing your stainless to get rust on it? dissimilar metals perhaps? do you have some non stainless fasteners? The quickest way is red Scotchbrite pads and wd-40. To prevent in the future you are going to have to figure out what the source is.
