Saturday the 26th at 7am at Big Creek Marina. Everyone is invited to come out and say hello. We will try our luck at the crappie shed and socialize.
Hope to see you there

Tony, We missed each other. I was there from 6 - 10:30, HL&S and I were inside towards the back right BSing. I fished outside at the tires until about 7:30, with nothing. Went inside and watched everyone around me catching some hogs, I ended up with 1 small crappie and 1 small bass. Left around 11:oo.

I decided not to fish the marina and headed over to Birch Creek but there was already a boat or two up in the creek. I needed to check on renting a pavilion over at Nails Creek park so I headed over there. The weather was getting better by the minute so after getting the information I needed from the park staff I headed up Nails Creek in my kayak.. Started catching crappie right off and continued until I headed back just before 4 PM. I ended up with about a dozen slabs and about half that many throw-backs 2 whitebass and 1 blackbass all on a single white 1/8 oz feather jig.

Hey hook-line&sinker, I was the fellow in the pelican yak on Sat. Just wanted to let you know I caught a few more nice size crappie in that spot you showed me & I rustled up a beatiful whopper of a white crappie on the way out! Need to get me a depth/fish finder.

Hey hook-line&sinker where did you connect the transducer for that depth finder? I have heard of epoxying them to the inside of the hull. That would keep it from being knocked off. If it works.Went up Nails on monday and caught a five keeper crappie, couple of white bass and one black bass I can see where the depth finder would come in handy.

I just hang the transducer over the side. I've got it mounted to a wire bracket that clips over the edge that way the whole thing is portable from boat to boat or even dock fishing. I use the depth finder to locate structure more then anything else because the fish it shows usually don't bite! Until the last few trips I've really not gained much from using the depth finder but I was trying to use it to find fish and not necessarily structure. Once I figured out the difference it all became clear and much more useful. This time of year the crappie are going to be near the deepest water and structure in the creeks before they move to the banks to spawn in the next few weeks or months.

Thanks for the info I have had the same problem with fish on a depth finder not biting. I was surprised to find some of the crappie as shallow as I did. But it should get better as it warms. Hpoe to see you out there we will be in the green Loons friday afternoon hopefully!

Man, wish I had paid a little better attention!- I'll be moving to Caldwell this summer and would love to have met some of you guys. Fished Somerville this spring/summer on the main lake and did fairly well. Have a yak, but haven't found the time or cajones to paddle up one of the creeks on my own yet. Tight lines and catch you guys next time around.
