We'll be having the Kids Trout Derby this February. We'll need volunteers to help with casting instruction, fly tying, hanging around, B.S.ing to keep the doughnuts and coffee eaten back.

If I bring my nephew can he fish it with a small kids zebco? He's only 3 or 4 years old. I dont think fly gear would suite him at that age. Loose interest to early.

Absolutely! As a matter of fact, the only fly casting that will be going on is over on the casting lawn adjacent to the pond. There will be too many people gathered round the shore for safe casting.

We are out there to promote fly angling and tying.

Now here is an idea that might work well. Get a bobber big enough to cast on that rod, drop a nymph or some other sub-surface fly off of it. He can chuck it out and reel it in. That may be the best route of all.
