Careful, I have heard that this stuff will dissolve the carpet glue as well. Sunlight will fade the spike it out of the carpet soon enough.

I have always let it fade away. Plus it adds character, boats without character usually cash very few or no checks...

It always fades away, even red spike it fades out, at least small amounts. I got red on my vinyl seats and carpet and wasn't too happy, 3 months of fishing in the sun it was pink, 6 months it was gone.
