I hear a screech owl in my back yard almost every night in a huge oak tree, haven't been able to spot it. Have seen several owls out at my property in East Tx.

I've seen the small owls, I think they live in a hole in the ground. I've seen quite a few barn owls which get pretty big. I doubt I've ever seen a great horned owl, if I have I don't recall.
Thanks, Billy

We have a healthy population of Barred Owls here. They help keep the squirrel population at bay and few you can get close enough for a pic about 15 foot away. Love having them around the place.
Some folks mouths, flat out runs their minds.

Back in the 70s used to hunt Caranchua bay up the river. The ruins of old Ward Ranch house were across the river. There was a big great horned owl with a 4+ foot wing span that we used to see and left scat on the porch of the cabin the size of dog droppings. It would fly over the the general vicinity of the Ward house,. One evening we went over to explore Ward house which at this time was a ruin, missing roof and walls. Walked up a stairwell to a second story bedroom and opened a closet door. 3 baby owls with eyes the size of saucers staring back at us, on the closet shelf. They were about 10-12 inches tall. Needless to say, shut the closet door slowly and backed out of there! They are magnificent birds
