Building an inshore rod for dad - 08/15/17 04:01 PM
Need opinions. I build rods and my dad wants me to build him an inshore spinning rod for reds and snook. He wants a 7' MH Fast is all I know, basically a bass set up. I want to get him a reel to go with this rod as well. I see most inshore rod blanks are white or light blue .... is there a reason for this? Is a black colored blank not preferred as an inshore rod. Also, I'm thinking about getting him the new Shimano Sustain reel. What size reel should I get for this set-up and I would assume the Sustain FG is not a bad choice? Also, the reel seat, I inquired about a small and light aluminum reel seat and found the one pictured below ... would an aluminum reel seat be preferred? info on the reel seat here..http://www.getbitoutdoors.com/alps-cah-kln.html - OK, two more questions - cork grips or Winn Grips? Full grip or split? I would think full grip if your setting your rod in a rod holder at times during live bait fishing.
