Best Non-Boat Fishing Area on the Coast??? - 06/15/13 10:58 PM

My wife and I love wade-fishing on the coast but i am not using my bass boat in saltwater. We are looking for the best area on the coast for wade fishing or pier fishing without the use of a boat.

We love Corpus but do not know the area well enough to do without some tips and reading about brown tide gives me some doubt as to it being doable.

Would love to hear your input on where you would go and why.

There's probably more wade friendly water between Rockport and corpus than the rest of the coast. Get a hooksetter wade/paddle map, very detailed on where to put in, and what's there.

You might also pick up a copy of Ray Crawford's book, "Wade and Kayak Fishing the Texas Coast". There are two editions, one for the upper coast and one for the coastal bend. I think the coastal bend edition will serve your needs. It contains descriptions, directions, photographs, and maps. The books have become kayakers' bibles.

You might also explore the kayak option. You can pick them up used pretty reasonably and they greatly increase your mobility.
