Galveston Bay Fishing - Need a little guidance - 06/23/11 05:11 PM
Ok so this question may be a little tricky to answer, being that its a different kind of fishing situation...
Over the weekend of July 4th, we will be staying with a friend who lives on 43' house boat in Seabrook. He has lived on his boat there for quite awhile, but he is not a fisherman at all. He loves takin folks out in his boat though, and he always tells us that he wants to try to take us (me and the gf) fishing, but he does not really know where to go. Usually we never fish, but just sit, relax and drink beer.
We are avid freshwater fishermen, and rarely get to fish saltwater. Since we will be on his boat all weekend (fri-mon), i may have to take him up on his offer to try to take us fishing. His boat is huge, its a 43' Albin. Anything less than 4' of water and his boat will drag bottom. And it only goes about 10 mph tops.
Ok now for the question. Do any of you guys have a suggestion on where we might be able to just anchor up somewhere and catch a few? We would be in the west side of Galveston Bay. Dont really have a target species, just anything thats willing to bite. And i figured that we would use several types of cut bait.
I was thinking about having him anchor up close to any old structure thats out in the bay. I remember seeing several on our previous trips out. And that would probably be the easiest thing to do given his boat size. Surely there would be some fish hiding at the bottom around these right? Night fishing is very likely is well.
Any other suggestions guys?
Edit: If by chance we were to target some reds or specs, are there any general locations we could try?
