Gilchrist advice - 05/28/08 06:35 PM

I will be heading down to Gilchrist for the weekend and plan on fishing while I am there. What can I expect? Would I be better off on the beach side or on the bay side? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'll be at rollover Sat. Holler and we'll get together over a glass of tea. We'll be on the pass at nights with the lights, Just look for my old gray dodge with the flat bottom on top and join us.

I'll be looking for ya too. What will you be fishing for.
I have fished rollover quite a bit the past couple of years.
A lot of times I can catch bait with a net on the SW side.
Usually I do better in the surf, but 4 weeks ago I caught a nice bull red on the NE side of the cut.

Typically, I fish in the surf, conditions permitting.
I always rent a cabin down in Gilchrest. It has a real nice pier on the bay side.
Are the flounder migrating back into the bays?

I hear the black tips are doing good in the surf.

I hope so, I'll be heading out in about 3 hrs. I should get there about 4:30.

How is the traffic on I-10 going out of Houston?

Last week there was construction on the big bridge. I think that is the one over the San Jacinto. I checked the traffic reports this morning. There was no mention of this. If traffic is bad, I might take the ferry out of Galveston, but you can get stuck there too.
