Hi Yall,

Anyone have recommendations for a guide in Corpus?

Some friends from St Louis want to catch some red fish, looking for a guide to
put em on some.

Thanks, Sniper smile

This may seem like a strange question but given the recent fish kill it's one that needs to be asked now. Do they plan on keeping fish? Not all guides are allowing fish to be kept.

As from what I've heard, there is no mandate, (at least not yet) and it would be up to the guide in most cases I would expect!
After all it's his future as a fishing guide that he would want to protect, and have respect for his competitors as well as the fishery above all.

Jimbo I agree there is no mandate on guides keeping or not keeping fish but I know of a handful of guides who now catch and release only which is why I asked. I believe Capt Doug Stanford is offering some type of discount if customers choose to release all fish. Capt Bink Grimes in Matagorda is catch and release only but is offering a voucher to the local seafood shop so customers can go get dinner after their guided trip with him.

I think right now it's more of a lets wait and see proposition!
If the catch numbers hold up over time I expect things to return to normal fairly soon, but right now it's just too soon for even TPWD to make any concrete determinations.

I am playing it safe and decided to give inshore a break, getting back into freshwater after 7 years of pure salt has been interesting! Plenty of blue cats and crappie out there for those wanting some meat in the fridge. Really like not having to flush the trailer, boat and motor...that is always a plus at the end of the day.

Woody’s Sports Center books private bay trips.

As an alternative, you might want to call Dolphindocks in Port Aransas and tell them what you are looking for. Their number is 1-800-EYE-FISH. Webpage dolphindocks.com They have 4, 8, 9, 10, 12 hour and longer trips; bay, jetty, and offshore. I have caught lots of fish with them over the years and you should have a great time. My wife and I often do back to back 4 hour bay trip with them if they are catching.
