Capt. Nathan’s Jetty/Sight Casting Report. Seadrift, TX.; 10/24/20 - 10/25/20 01:34 AM

Day 1 and 2 of 5, with this repeat group and great friends of 13 years! We started the trips off at the jetties playing with the big reds.

Today I was honored when they asked if we could take a moment and have a small memorial for their dad who past away. They grew up duck hunting the fabled Welder Flats back in the early 70’s. They were definitely one of the first groups of hunters in the salt marsh, and shared some great stories from back in the day. Spreading their dad’s ashes across the marsh, it was fitting to have a fresh cool front and birds overhead.

With the cool front cranking hard this morning, we knew that the jetties were out of play for us. Calling an audible we waited until noon as the winds backed off, to chase redfish in the marsh. We spent the afternoon trolling windward banks with popping corks and gulp. It was a great way to end the day, with some drag burning redfish.

Hopefully we will be blessed over the next few days with good steady fishing![Linked Image]

Mr. James was a great guy. What a fitting tribute. He will be missed. He left some great lasting memories for his family for sure. I wish I could have been there.

Over the years, I only got to fish with him two or three times, I sat in awh listening to old duck stories. Some of the airboat rides in blowing cold fronts, along with some good fishing stories too. I wish I would have got to fish with him more, but always enjoyed ending the day by running him back into Welder Flats just so he could see it again.
