Where can I fish in seapro 2400sv (Aransas Pass)

I have lived in Texas my whole life. Fished Aransas pass a few dozen times. We always stay in the channels for fear of running a-ground. I have a seapro 2400sv with a 225 Honda and a hydraulic jack plate. My boat doesn't have a tunnel hull so I'm not sure of the exact draft on it. I'm guessing 2' minimum. Is anyone out there willing to help me out with a few spots to take my little kiddos out fishing that might produce a bite? I'm at that pivotal stage where the fishing needs to be good to keep the kids hooked on fishing. If the kids are hooked, the wife is hooked, and a happy fishing wife is a happy fishing life! Use your vision to navigate. Dark bottom, you should at least be able to float out of, white bottom is where you'll run it aground.

Cool thanks. I got a nice graph with a map chip, just don't know where the typical spots to fish are. I do alot of bass fishing in central tx, but salt water fishing is a different beast. We have been trying the channels and a couple cuts, and in three trips just haven't been able to find the fish.

Don't over think it. Everything will be less than 3' deep, you're used to freshwater lakes where you look for changes in feet, in the bay it can be in inches.

You want to see life...bait working, birds, especially pelicans in an area.

Grass flats with potholes, cuts and guts running off channels, change from clear to stained water.

That makes alot of sense . There are a couple places I would like to get to but don't have the balls to get on plane and run through the 1' of water. I guess my next boat will be one just like yours. Ours just has a little bit too much of a draft. Last trip we saw found the "parking lot" in redfish bay just on the north side of the channel with the small gas rigs. I pulled up the motor, dropped the trolling motor, and couldn't make it back there. I really appreciate you taking the time to give me a tip. It's the tips that make the trips fun. Going out blind were practically set up for failure. A couple good tips and we have hope! Haha. And hope is what makes a trip enjoyable... Second to catching... Our game plan for this week is to drift fish the north side of mud island, try to hit the jetty if weather permits, California hole (if I can find a way in), then just cruise looking for the birds and bait.

Cliff looks like the water levels are down right now but should come back up some by tomorrow. Still going to be low. There is a deep cut (in yellow on the map) the you can run in. When you get to the back of the cut shut it down and use your trolling motor to get in position and drift the area in red. A drift sock sometimes helps. As Pat mentioned watch for signs of bait and/or birds. Fish may be in the sandy pot holes or may be in the grass. You can throw a weedless soft plastic over the grass or put a shrimp on a popping cork. You'll catch some fish.

Cliff, you can run Morris & Cummins cut from the shrimp boat channel to Aransas Bay in your boat. Getting into California Hole can be tricky, especially with the low tide. For me, the deepest access point for California Hole is from M&C Cut, but even that route is not very deep. Look on Google Earth at the underwater extension of the south points of Mud Island and Allen's Bight. Both these points extend way out and are easy to drift or power pole fish out of a deeper boat. Also the outside of Trailer Island is easy to access. Like the others said, look for some bait and/or pelican activity. Even dolphins feeding can be show you where the trout are concentrated.

If you want to go south instead, the Ransom flat is a little deeper. The edge of the ICW near the south end of Dagger was holding some trout a month or so ago. The outside of Dagger can be pretty good at times if the wind cooperates. Also the L reef at East Flats is easy to access and fish.
