Bolivar 8/13-Green Tide Surf Fishing - 08/14/19 02:15 PM

I decided I’d get up early and go do a little sharkin by myself yesterday. My first bait was dropped at or around 950 yards by a old sunken barge. I then ran out two 9/0’s between 300-450 yards. All baited with stingray. Bait action in the gulf was sporadic but soon the green water moved in as did the mullet. Fish started blowing up on the schools of mullet. I walked out with a popping cork and live finger mullet and casted out. Cork quickly disappeared and as I set off, the fish got off. I realized it cut my mono leader. I walked back in and fixed up a popping cork with coated cable leader and the bite was on. Ended up catching 4 sharks with the biggest being around 30” all on 15lb big game, 7’1” medium heavy rod and citica. The boat out rods never got touched other than crabs. Even though I didn’t catch any monsters, I had a really good time catching those sharks on light tackle. Tight lines y’all [Linked Image]

You have the right rod and any fish can be fun.
