May 27, 2018 Sabine Pass Jetties, not disappointed. Sandy green water, calm west winds, scattered showers, felt more like July or August. fishing the Jetties, you can not hardly miss catching something with Live Shrimp and and a popping cork, when the conditions allow you to fish the Jetties. First couple of fish were hard heads and sharks, not a good start. Then I hooked into something that just took off, I could not slow it down, turn it, it never slowed down. When I ran out out of line, there was a big tug, and the hook just straightened out and that fish never looked back. Then, the fish and the the fishing got better. Redfish, Speckled Trout, and more Reds and and Specks. Then the Sharks started getting bigger. I kept a 4' Black Tip Shark, then later I caught a 5' Black Tip. Lucky for the 5' Shark, I already had my limit. After just keeping what I wanted, I decided to check out the South End of Sabine Lake. I saw 2 birds diving in one spot, sure enough, small Shrimp were jumping out of the water all around. After my first strike, the fish broke off. Then it was one small Speck after the other, no need in harming the next generation of Speckled Trout, so I left. Next stop, schools of shad everywhere. I caught as many small Redfish and Flounder that I wanted to. Then, all of a sudden, it sounded like I was at the beach and the surf was crashing in. I look out in the lake and see huge schools of mullets coming out of the water. Something is chasing or spooking the mullet, but I did not get close enough to see what started the mass hysteria.
