1100-900 series - 07/12/21 12:34 AM

Hello everyone. Been out of the game for a while. Just got a new to me boat and it has some older graphs on it. An 1197 and a 998 to be exact. Dumb question and couldn’t find the answer, can these be linked together and if so what do I need?? Thanks for the help.

It depends on the exact model number of the 998. HB had a proprietary networking call Interlink. The 998c and the 1197 used Interlink. The 998c HD also supported Ethernet. I think you would be hard pressed to find Interlink hardware now.

The 1197 has an Ethernet port and the 998c and 998c HD have an Ethernet port. I think the 1197 got Ethernet activation software the same time as the XX8 models did, but is not 360 compatible (Ethernet accessory).
If you have AS INTERLINK and connected Ethernet, the INTERLINK would be disabled (takes priority).

I have all the software updates for the 1198 and checked the list.
Software version 1.540 on 3/5/2011 activated Ethernet for the XX8 models and the 1197 was not listed.

If you read the software version for the 1197c on the Humminbird website, it states the limitation of doing the update in relation to Ethernet sharing and then has a fix for an Ethernet function.

Update, i did successfully link my 1197 and 998 with an Ethernet cable. Unfortunately the 1197 can’t be upgraded further but they are linked and i can share my way points so YAY!. May help someone else. FYI the 1197 must be updated to the latest and the other graph must be updated to the 1197 version or higher.
