Yamaha SHO NEMA 2000 interface - 04/23/21 09:34 PM

I’m wanting to connect my 2020 model Yamaha SHO 250 to my Lowrance HSD12 unit. I have seen the connection cables for sale and I know how to hook up a NEMA network. Is this the correct cable for a newer Yamaha? I have seen mention of Command Link for Yamaha. What is it and how would I know if my motor has Command Link?

This kit is for any yamaha 2006 newer without Command Link. It works on 250 hp motors with model number Z250, or LZ250 or VZ250 for HPDI if you can't figure out what you have then call a yamaha dealer they can help with ID of your Motor. I don't see the model number of this kit the Lowrance number is 000-0120-37

My motor is a VF250XA. What kit do I need? Where would you recommend me buy it?

The commandlink motors require a Yamaha gateway sometimes 2 of them then that connects to a Nema 2000 backbone to the HDS> Only Yamaha sells those Gateways so best bet is contact a dealer for Yamaha dealers for all the parts you will need other than the Nema backbone which Lowrance can provide.

That cable will get you nmea data from your engine. On mine the connector was a capped and had a with a yellow piece of tape around the cable. Take the cap off, plug in this cable and boom you get the data. For the trim data, there were two other wires taped together with yellow tape that I just had to connect to get the data. Note that if you have a trim gauge you may not get trim data on the graph until you disconnect the gauge.
