Galveston charter for 8 guys

Galveston charter for 8 guys - 08/01/20 04:53 PM

Looking for a charter boat out of Galveston or crystal beach that can handle 8 guys in the beginning of October. Would like to be off shore but if the guide is worth it will look at inshore. Thanks for the help.

There are not many choices for 8 people. Most guides are only coast guard licensed for 6 passengers.

I chartered Island Girl several years ago with 9 buddies and we had a great time. Caught as many fish as the law allowed and the crew was good. As I recall, the boat easily could have fished more, but was very comfortable for the 10 of us. I'm not endorsing them now as that was nearly 18 years ago, but I know the boat can handle your group.

I will add this though, given a choice, I would charter a boat out of Freeport before I would grab another one out of Galveston. The offshore boats tend to fish the same water, but the Freeport boats are closer to the fishing grounds so you spend less time riding and more time fishing. And as I recall, Island Girl is slow. 4 hours of our day was just spent riding.

Bluefin and Action are the charters that can handle your party size out of Freeport.

bluefin has horrible reports of engine issues and needed maintenance. I would steer clear of that outfit.

I second Aqua Safari. Been using them for 10 years. Still going strong!
