South Padre Island- near shore

After a couple of cold windy days at South Padre Island, a buddy and I were able to get out with Capt Andrew, a guide down here. We went to a state water snapper hole and we were able to limit out. We prowled around another couple of places finding a few other types of fish. I was able to land a PB bull red at 36 inches long. Ended up having a great trip. Thanks Capt. Andrew.

Thanks! It was alittle slow out there I think it was from that weather last week. I'm planning to work that south reef pretty hard this winter. I think there are more fish there than I saw on the screen.

Looks like you got a few nice sand trout as well; even when they get to a decent size they remain a very underrated fish. It's too bad they don't get as big as corvina on the west coast, now that would be fun. Hmm, wonder if somehow there could be an accidental stocking in the gulf...

The redfish was caught using the head and the first inch or two of a small sand trout as bait. Was looking for a shark when it hit.
