Thanks To The THSBA - 05/21/18 07:46 PM

Just got home last night from the THSBA State Championship on Sam Rayburn. It was a great tournament and extremely well organized. Just wanted to say thanks to all of the THSBA staff. I can’t imagine all of the work it takes to do these tournaments. It’s a big commitment just as a boat captain and know some of the staff are also boat captains along with all of the other work involved.

It’s a growing sport and it will only continue to grow. It takes lots of volunteers so if you’re a parent please help your local club out in some way. It doesn’t take much to help out but do something. I can’t say as I’ve ever seen so many happy young men and women as I saw the last two days so please help your local school fishing clubs out.

Awesome and well run event again.
No one will ever truly appreciate how much work goes into these events by the entire board and the rest of the people who volunteer to help.

We had great time at the tournament, and all season really. May kids really enjoyed it and even walked away with a few wins and some college money. Really a top notch organization ran by some very dedicated and selfless individuals. I can't say enough good things about the job they do for these kids.

Also never ran into any issues with another boater all season.

I think you can find them on the THSBA Facebook page, but they typically hit the THSBA site around Thursday following the tournament.

Edit... looks like the went on the THSBA site today

Was an excellent ran tournament. Great job to all those involved from the top officials and board members to the high school anglers. Great group of young men and women that are going to carry on this great sport and continue to make it grow. Boat captains kudos to the job and time you sacrifice for these young men and women. Cassel boykins handled the event nicely. Thanks to everyone!!!!!!! Great job.

Would anyone on this site have information on the new region (Hill Country) for 2018-19 and a contact for someone who could answer questions?

All of the Board members and directors are listed on the website, along with phone numbers. Google "THSBA" and it will bring up the page.

Thumbs up to THSBA on the State Championship! I was concerned about the parking at Cassels Boykin, but they handled it well. Very well ran trail, sad to see my 2 years with my guys come to an end.

Anyone with the least bit of interest in grabbing up a couple of young men (or ladies) and teaching them to tournament fish, showing them on the water etiquette, and just having fun I strongly encourage you to do just that. There really isn't much better than seeing someone grow in their abilities and getting to be a part of it. My guys went from a couple of budget rods, 10 lb line, a handful of baits and PBs of 2-3 lbs to a nice collection of rods and tackle, huge improvement in casting skills and putting several 6-8 lb bass in the boat in tournaments (and losing a DD). It's very rewarding and words can't describe the smiles on their faces when they'd catch a big one.
