I'll post this again in here since posting in the OT didn't help much.

My bike needs an tune up, new tires and maybe wheels. And who knows what else. It's been pretty neglected by me for a couple years. But at the prices bike shops charge for tune up's these days. Up to $200 plus parts. Bike was only $600 new. I would be better off buying a new bike that comes with lifetime tune up's. Opinions from my bike riders? My bike is a Specialized Sirrus.

And if I bought a new bike it would probably be a true road bike and not a hybrid like the Sirrus is. What road bike would you recommend for not much more than $1200.

I would go to Richardson Bike Mart or Performance Bicycle and test drive several in the price range you are looking at. Get 'fit' to the bike and ask a ton of questions. Both places have great customer service and will work with you. Performance used to take trade ins. Not certain about Richardson Bike Mart on that.

Go to Plano Cycling... ask for Kyle. He is on the forum as well and is a bass fisherman. He will take care of you.

Plano Cycling and Richardson Bike Mart are good options, as well as Don Johle's Bike World at Belt Line and 30 in South Garland.
Don and I grew up together biking, and he was a world champ motocross rider.

All 3 places will have bikes in your range, but I can't help much with specific types.
I still have my '89 or so Specialized street bike that I use on occasion.
Otherwise, I'm all dirt and off road riding!

Here is my take...
Go on YouTube and find some videos on how to tune it up yourself. Then give it a try. It really is not that hard.

So after that you will have either fixed it, success, or not - right where you are now. So really not much to lose.

if you are going to keep riding, sooner or later you will be glad that you know how to fix it yourself. I have fixed many an issue on the road/trail.

Unless something is really jacked up, a minnor shifting issue is corrected by simply turning one adjuster a quarter or half turn. That is much better than loading the bike up and wasting a half a day just because it is “free”.

That is an option. But usually if a hammer can't fix it I'm no good working on it.

Just tune it up...put some nice stuff on it and ride...i recently had mine done at a bike shop in bossier city....i think its better than new.

It sounds like you want a new bike.

That's fine.

But there's nothing wrong with spending $200 to get your specialized in top shape.
