Port A report

Port A report - 10/09/17 11:38 PM

Still a mess and sad. People are trying to get things up and running. There are a few places open to eat so please frequent them. All three free piers are gone, Caldwell is not open yet. Beach suffered major erosion and is very strange; breakers are big and way out. It's very narrow. No bait in the surf. Tides are very high and for those familiar with Port A the flats in front of Fishermans Wharf the tide fills the parking lot. I was down there to help a buddy repair his dock but the bays look good and clear. It's very safe, lots of troopers there. Be very careful if you wade the surf. Unpredictable waves and rip currents. Please consider spending some money there if you are down that way.

From what I gather, a lot more tourists would travel to Port Aransas if they could be assured of a place to stay. Information about lodging is hard to come by.

From what I was told it will be months/years until some of the condos are repaired. Some of the RV parks are up and running.
