Locals call it Big lake , speckled trout and redfish are the primary targets. I have fished
there several times with guides. Almost a mirror image of Sabine Lake.
I prefer to drive further and fish the Delacroix or Shell Beach area of
Louisiana. Trout limit is 15 at Big lake , 25 in the delta.

hope this helps

You can launch at Spicer's by the bridge in Hackberry. There is a small hotel in Hackberry, but I can't recall the name. Google should be able to locate it. Hackberry Rod & Gun also has a condo with a boat stall/lift that can be rented.

Definitely check with Hackberry Rod and Gun. Good guys and great lodge.. not a bad idea to take a first day guided trip and then use your boat the second day.

there is a ramp right there as well if I recall.

My buddy went with them and had horrible trip, "guide" had a bass boat and knew one spot to go and when to windy there was at a loss. Other boat with some other friends had a good trip that same day out of that lodge....sounds as if they have some good and some not so good guides.....this was 2 years ago
