Went to Rockport and had an awesome time. Limited out four days in a row. Keeper fish started biting after noon all on assasins and cocahoes dark green with a red tail or silver with a green tail. Fish were on the edge of drop-offs in 3 to 4 foot of water. Caught most wading with a few drifting.

Exude,

We went down a few weeks ago and bought 2qts of shrimp. After we had burned up about half of that one piggies, trash fish, and dinks, I decided to try an assassin. Within 3 casts, we had a 18"trout in the box. A few casts later, someone else on the boat switched over to plastic and put a 17" in the box. We ended up with a few keepers in the box, nothing on live bait. Weird how that works, huh?

What areas of Rockport were you fishing? Mud, traylor, quarantine?

Shawn,
Traylor is usually to crowded for me, I like fishing out around St. Joe, Mud, and Ransom, I also fish the intercoastal by Estes, we own some property on the water there and when you catch it right you can get a limit of trout and reds in a couple of hours, found mud minnows to work the best there. The only luck I have with shrimp is to take a 1/8th ounce jig head with a short shank hook and hook it through the bottom of the head coming out the top and fishing it slow along the bottom bouncing it. You still get a some trash messing with it, but I catch more good fish that way with shrimp and cover a lot of water.
