New to wade fishing in the Corpus Christi Area - 03/09/12 04:38 AM

Visit the Corpus Christi Area often and looking to start wadeing looking for advice on spots to fish and what color lures seem to work in this area. Any advice is apreciated.

Pick up one of those hot spot maps at one of the local tackle shops and just start hitting the areas that you have access to.

Colors pretty simple and the same for fresh and salt water. Lighter colors in clear water, darker colors in stained water. Add vibration to the low visibility conditions and you'll catch more fish too.

When using soft plastics use the minimum weight needed for the wind and current/tide.

Don't be afraid to change colors often until you find what works. Remember, what works today may not work tomorrow.

Are you new to saltwater fishing...or just new to wading?

Google earth is a good resource. The flats off the JFK causway, there's a boat cut off Mustang Island, some access off Packery Channel, plenty of places. Use all your bass tackle for sure. everything from spinner baits, to zara spooks work just fine and a lot of stuf in between. Holla if you have any specific questions.. oh, for colors, since corpus is so clear most of the time, natural colors work just fine.. and that includes baby bass, anything that looks like a minow, mullet, baby trout, even bream look a lot like mud minnows, and one of my favorites for reds is leopard frog in the zara spook and baby skitter walk.

A lot of people have gotten some really great info out of the TroutSupport.com DVD's. of course don't take my word for it, just check out the tesimonials.. there are even some on this board in numerous threads.
