Carlos - have no fear - I will pick your brain for all the knowledge I can. UNFORTUNATELY for me - you all destroyed all of the knowledge I previously had about surf fishing in one 2 hour program. Of course, I have been a very marginal surf fisherman over the years and needed to have my "knowledge" seriously updated. Fortunately, both my buddy who was with me and I are very willing students. Some time soon, I will take a shot at using some of my new found knowledge. I am one of these fisherman who tries to "NEVER GET SKUNKED" because I am content to fish for whatever is biting. I also can see that a good bit of what you taught yesterday is directly applicable to fishing both piers and jetties. For all that missed the seminar - you missed some really good stuff. If SFCCI is going to sponsor more of these seminars, you need to develop some slides or pictures that you can handout that show what holes, closed guts, suck-outs, etc look like from the beach. Thanks for the hint about the wreck North of Bob Hall. I think it is readily seen on my GPS. For all that missed the seminar part of it was about DISTANCE CASTING. SFCCI is a club all about distance casting and its application to surf fishing. They have guys who have in competition cast a 150 gram (5 1/4 oz +/-) weight over 821 feet (no that is not a typo) - 2 3/4 football fields. Yowsers!!!!

Hi there; reading thispage I guess I missed some type of surf fishing class yesterday (darn). I would like to ask someone a couple of Q's. I haven't fished the Gulf Coast in about 35 years, and i would like to take my grandson fishing. We live in Ingram Tx. so some where near Corpus Cristi would be nice or where ever you think would be good. Just want to have fun with him, on a budget!!!!

Here is some of what was discussed in the seminar at Bass Pro. This is a video that was posted by Nick Meyer on Breakaway fishing PINS today. Shows a great "Suck out" in the surf!
