Fishing glasses for the coast?

We hit the coast every 2 years and I always take my normal bass fishing glasses but they are for mostly semi dirty waters for lakes in north texas. I have always wanted to get a set for fishing the coast, we mainly camp at mustang island, port Aransas, north parade island. I am looking in the $100 range as they will only get used for a week every 2 years but want a decent lens and frame.

Go to steep and cheap get glass brown lenses.

Really depends on your own eyeballs, I have been through 4 colors and the Costa blue I like the most.

I do like blue when it's super bright, the brown lenses seem to contrast colors the best, when we're sight fishing it makes a difference.

Thanks for some info, I will try find a couple pair to try.

Be sure and get GLASS lenses, plastic lenses last about a day before they get ruined by saltwater and sand.

I agree with the Costa Blue Glass. The style is important. I have a big head and like the Permits, but find a style that fits good.

Don't spend $100 on glasses with plastic lenses, as Pat said, they won't last. Bite the bullet and get glass. my 580g's have seen 8 hard years, and still going.

I think either get great glass ones like those 580G Costa or just get super cheap plastic off the cheap shelf plastic. I’ve got prescription costa 580G copper base, green mirror and those are amazing lenses for sight fishing in the Texas inshore waters. They absolutely lead to extra fish being seen and quality glass always trumps any of the best plastics for visual acuity, scratch resistance, and lack of distortion.

Plastic just simply will be scratched and messed up sooner than later unless you are freakishly careful with things. Spend 10 or 20 bucks on plastic if you want to not go big and get some new ones as needed or go big and get quality glass. The semi-expensive plastic types seem to be the worst of both worlds. Not at all durable and costly at the same time. Glass will last for years, plastic not so much.

I have used the Costa 580P without lens issues. Plastic will scratch easier but both can scratch. Just need to handle them properly. My issues with Costs have always been the frames specifically the rubber on the frames. I like the Maui Jim’s much better.

I went away from the glass when I dropped them on the floor of Grosse Savanne lodge and one lens broke and a bunch of sharp glass came off. Most but not all the lens hung together. Got to thinking if something like a Carolina rig weight or jig head hit them I could lose a eye.

I have sent every pair of Costas I have back in to replace the rubber on the frames. I have been transitioning over to Maui Jim for this reason. They use a lot less rubber in their frames. I have really been pleased with their Makoa frames.

I fell face first onto asphalt Tuesday, From the look of my plastic lens was damn glad they were not glass.
