Interesting-I know those Black Drum have barbels they use to “feel” their surroundings, never thought about how a magnetic field could increase a strike. Does your shark catch rate decrease also? Thanks for sharing. thumb

Good question. Most of the time, we fish with cracked crab and we've never caught a shark on crab, including the entire period of the study.

Other studies indicate magnets decrease the catch rate of sharks, but since we didn't catch a single shark either on the magnetic hooks or the control group, our data is silent on whether magnets decrease the catch rates of sharks.

When we target sharks, we use live fish or cut fish for bait.

At least in some cases. There are many species of fish whose sensitivity to magnetic fields is not yet known.

14"-30" Tx SLOT LIMIT. Do you want to catch the BIG ones for the fun of it and then release them?
