Thinking about taking the wife there for vacation in December. Has anyone ever been there? Did you like where you stayed? Rent a car? Do you have to take a puddle jumper plane to the other islands? Any info is greatly appreciated, etc?
I didn't realize there was so.many little islands in TCI.
Went two years ago, best vacation I've ever had! Seriously, the people make it great. (mostly Haitians the working tourism jobs) Nicest, most genuine people of any resort area I've ever been to - not just kissing your butt you for tips but actually happy to have you there. Our resort was small and the entire staff knew my family by name on second day we were there. Went out of their way to make sure we were happy.
Stayed a week at Royal West Indies on Grace Beach. Didn't go to any other islands. Probably want a car, depending on where you stay. Food is outstanding everywhere but will cost you. Couple grocery stores in Provo but not much cheaper than eating out. Nice, new marina with plenty of captains available. Can do also do some bonefishing on your own if you're into that and have a car.
Don't miss the fish fry downtown. They do it once a week. Kind of like a giant family reunion. Only negative, it was a little too laid back for my 11yo. Wife and I are going back alone next year.
