Lower Laguna Madre Trout/Red fishing advice. - 03/13/18 10:27 PM

I'm going down to South Padre Island in early to mid April for vacation and would like to catch some trout and/or reds. What size braid/color line would you suggest? I will just be fishing from the shore on the bay or in the surf if its calm enough. I have my eyes on some DOA Shrimp plastic baits because i really don't want to hassle with croaker. Any good spots to access the bay or a particular area to try in the surf, We will probably drive to the east cut also. Would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank's.

Power Pro 20# ... or #30 will work for both Bay and Surf.

The Pink TEXAS RATTLER™ jig is a HOT color for trout in the surf and the bay.

The Black/GoldEye TEXAS RATTLER™ jig has been an awesome color for Flounder going back to 2003 when I was the 1st lure manufacturer to put rattling jigs on the market.

Just because an angler isn't catching flounder at his fishing locations doesn't mean they are not there - flounder can be finicky, but become very aggressive when presented with the right lure combo. Even kids can catch'em.
