From Inception to Finalization! Okuma's NEWEST Surf Rods Are Here!

Years of fishing the World has led to the development of these rods! After meeting Okuma's Director of Product Development John Bretza after fishing World Famous Waimea Bay on a 8-12ft typical winter morning he liked the prospects of taking on my aspiration. This project was 2yr in the making. Of corse John & his team did most of the work & he kept sending me prototypes till it felt it was ready.

Earlier this year the 13'3' & 14'2" 3pc Surf Rods were unveiled at the ever popular Izuo Brothers Product Show. The dealers recognized a winner when they saw it & orders were placed. I also attached my new non-released Cedros 2020 Spinners on all the rods. Since then the Pandemic made it's appearance. Because of shipping problems less than 40% of what was expected arrived. This first batch went out to dealers first through local distributors. The local stores at where i live quickly sold out.

But i still had all my earlier prototypes to use so it was ok. Then Davey Brown, Marketing Director of Okuma blessed me with my first box shipment in 6 months. I got my finalized Surf Rods. Moving the reel seat by a few inches did strengthen the boosting & casting capabilities as expected. I'm casting a good 20% farther than i could using the prototypes. A good review & observation made by Brian Kimata on the rods. I feel blessed to have good knowledgeable professionals helping me along.
