White Rock Creek - Thank You - 10/26/17 12:43 PM
I'm a volunteer for the Texas Stream Team and I regularly take water samples along the upper portions of White Rock Creek. While I'm taking the samples I bring a garbage bag with me and try to fill it up with trash. Large amounts of trash are swept into the creek after a rainstorm and its usually not hard to fill the bag.
One of the items the volunteers have been asked to track is fishing line. On our monitoring form we have a little box to indicate about how much fishing line we found. Overall we have been finding less fishing line. On my last two monitoring visits I found zero fishing line, zero monofilament, zero fishing line of any kind. Thank you.
I love to fish myself and I've never understood why anyone wouldn't clean up after themselves. I'm a firm believer that the more fisherman we have the better. No one cares more about the quality of our local lakes and rivers than the people casting fishing lines into them.
Sincerely,
Ryan Morris, PE
